INSURANCE ALL SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS NEED – PART 3

This is the last post of our three-segment series that covers all of the types of insurance that small business owners, and corporate business owners alike, should make sure to have in place. At Security Insurance Group, we understand that risk is a part of owning any business, but one of the tools that you are able to take advantage of is insurance, and we are the company that can provide you with that security.

In the case that you are just starting to join us, make sure to check out the first two blog posts of our series. You’ll see that part 1 and part 2 offer quite a bit of knowledge in different types of insurance that you may not have even considered when thinking about what your business is in need of, but without further ado, here are a few other types of insurance policies that every business owner could benefit from.

DATA BREACH

One of the instances that we covered in our last blog post was a policy that protected you and your business in the case of a legal issue, but that is not the only type of issue that you and your business could be facing over time. If you and your company are dealing with many types of files that are either important to a product or service that you’re offering, or they’re critical to keeping your patient’s information secure, then you’re going to want to have some sort of protection in the case of a data breach. Most of the time, the losses that happen at this time can have a huge effect on a business, so this type of coverage can provide you with the coverage that you need.

    RENTER’S INSURANCE

Businesses require quite a bit to really be well off, and having space where your business can thrive takes some time. Even once your business is starting to see some traction and take off, you still have to worry about how much growth your business is seeing and what type of investment you’re going to want to make in a space. Is there room for growth? Will you quickly outgrow the space that you’re looking at? Do you have enough room to stay for a while at the rate that you’re growing? These are all questions that you can ask yourself, but there’s no guaranteed answer with any of these questions, and it’s hard to commit to such a large investment when the answer could easily change at any point in time. For that reason, most business owners will wind up renting a space rather than purchasing. If that’s the case for you and your business, big or small, renters insurance is a policy that you’re going to want to make sure that you have.

Not only will this policy protect you from any damages that happen while you are renting the space, but it will also protect the types of equipment that you have stored in the space and have invested your personal money in. This is something that could save you millions in the long run. When you add up the cost of computers, any equipment or documentation, and more can be lost in the case of an accident, and having to replace that or make up for it out of pocket is extremely overwhelming and usually unrealistic. Minimize the worry of this every happening to you by having renter’s insurance for the space you are renting out.
